BUACEMENT Jumps 4% as ₦10tn Giant Reawakens at NGX Open

BUACEMENT returned to the spotlight at the NGX open, climbing 4.04% to ₦309 as buying activity pushed one of the exchange's largest companies sharply higher in early trading.
The move adds ₦12 to the previous close of ₦297, putting the cement maker's market value around the ₦10.06 trillion mark based on its outstanding shares. The stock had closed Monday unchanged at ₦297 after trading nearly one million shares.
A Big Move From a Heavyweight
A 4% move is significant when it comes from a stock of BUACEMENT's size.
At ₦309, the early gain represents a substantial increase in the market value attached to the company. The stock's size also means its movement can have a more visible effect on the wider NGX than a similar percentage move in a smaller counter.
The market will therefore be watching whether the early price can attract enough follow-through to remain above ₦300 as trading develops.
Volume Is Already Building
About 363,000 BUACEMENT shares had changed hands in the early session.
That is meaningful participation, although the figure should be treated as an intraday snapshot rather than evidence of a sustained shift in demand. Monday's full session recorded 994,751 shares traded in the stock, worth about ₦288.92 million.
The more important signal will be whether today's volume continues to build alongside the price.
The Stock Has Room Below Its Yearly Peak
Despite the latest jump, BUACEMENT remains well below its 52-week high of ₦460.
The stock's current level therefore represents a strong recovery from its 52-week low of ₦151.20, but the distance from the yearly high also shows that today's move is not, by itself, a breakout of the stock's longer-term range.
Its year-to-date gain of 73.11% also means today's advance comes on top of an already substantial run rather than from a depressed starting point.
₦309 Is Now the Immediate Test
The immediate question is less about how high BUACEMENT traded at the open and more about whether ₦309 survives as the session progresses.
A sustained move would require the price to hold the early gain while trading activity remains elevated. A retreat toward the previous ₦297 close would show that the opening move did not translate into sustained upward pressure.
For now, BUACEMENT has put one of the NGX's biggest market-cap names firmly back on the trading radar. The next signal is whether ₦309 becomes a sustained session level or simply an early-session spike.
