CAC confirms cybersecurity incident and tightens portal access
The companies registry said limited parts of its systems were accessed without authorisation, prompting containment work, an investigation and stronger login controls.

The Corporate Affairs Commission confirmed unauthorised access to limited parts of its information systems and opened a review with technology and data-protection authorities.
CAC said it activated incident-response protocols, contained the threat and worked with the National Information Technology Development Agency and other partners to establish the scope. The Nigeria Data Protection Commission separately began an investigation under the Nigeria Data Protection Act.
Business records are critical infrastructure
The registry underpins company formation, beneficial-ownership filings and due-diligence checks. Any question over the availability or integrity of those records can delay transactions and raise compliance costs even when the affected data is limited.
CAC advised users to review their records, reset credentials and avoid suspicious messages. After scheduled maintenance, it introduced two-factor authentication for logins and said services had returned to operation.
